E se per le lunghe distanze il mezzo di trasporto a disposizione non fosse esclusivamente l’aereo?
Il prossimo obiettivo per il futuro è quello di rendere il viaggio in treno un’alternativa all’aereo, impiegando quasi lo stesso tempo.
È proprio questo il tema principale del “Connecting day” tenutosi a Lione, il quale ha unito figure politiche di rilievo e le principali industrie di trasporti.
La Commissione Europea ha presentato il suo action plan che mette in primo piano l’importanza di fare dell’Unione Europea un sistema più adeguato ad affrontare le crisi climatiche previste: un taglio del 90% delle emissioni entro il 2050 grazie ad una rete di trasporti ferroviaria smart, sicura, accessibile ed alla portata della maggioranza.
Cambierà il modo di viaggiare attraverso l’Europa? Le ferrovie possono davvero sostituire gli aeroporti?
Certamente, guardando la situazione attuale, tanti aspetti vanno cambiati e migliorati perché quest’obiettivo si possa raggiungere.
A darne testimonianza è anche l’attivista Greta Thunberg e la sua conversazione via Twitter avvenuta già due anni fa ormai, con le ferrovie tedesche.
Nell’immaginario sociale italiano, della Germania si ha l’idea di un Paese preciso ed efficiente, al contrario di quanto mostra la Thunberg col suo post, in cui denuncia le situazioni in cui fu costretta a viaggiare da una parte all’altra del Paese, insieme a tanti altri, per via del sovraffollamento dovuto a ritardi e cancellazioni di corse.
Seppur l’alta richiesta di viaggi in treno, che vuol dire maggiore uso di un mezzo di trasporto che ha un impatto ambientale e inquinante di 10 – 15 volte meno di un aereo, la sua resta comunque una denuncia al fatto che purtroppo viaggiare su rotaie non è ancora facile.
Lo scopo è proprio questo: garantire agli utenti viaggi più efficienti via treno permettendo loro una valida opzione al mezzo più inquinante al mondo.
Il testimone passa quindi dalla politica, a chi davvero può concretizzare questa strategia, ai giganti del settore ferroviario i quali si impegneranno a garantire quanto previsto.
Dalla nostra parte, non vediamo l’ora di avere il modo di contribuire alla lotta ai cambiamenti climatici anche viaggiando!

If the only mean of transport for long distances would not be exclusively the train?
Next future goal is to make train trips an alternative to the plane, taking almost the same time.
This is the main topic of the “Connecting Day” held in Lyon, where the main actors of the transport industry and important politicians have met.
The European Commission has submitted its action plan which highlights the importance of making the European Union a more appropriate system to deal with climate crises: a reduction of 90% of emissions within 2050 thanks to a smarter and more accessible rail transport network.
Will it change the way we travel in Europe? Can railways replace airports?
For sure, looking at the current situation, many aspects must be changed and improved, to achieve this goal.
Evidence of this situation has been also a conversation of 2 years ago. On Twitter between the young activist Greta Thunberg and the German railways industry:
In the Italian social imaginary, Germany is a precise and efficient country; Greta demonstrates the contrary.
She spoke out against the situation she experienced while travelling from one side of the country to the other, with many other people, in an overcrowded train due to delays and cancellations of rides.
Even if she was happy about the high request of train trips means greater use of a mean of transport has an environmental and polluting impact of 10 / 15 times less than plane, her is a complaint about the fact that traveling on rails is still not easy.
That is the scope: grant to people efficient train trips, offering them a valid option to the most polluting mean of transport in the world.
Now, it’s up to politics and to the railway sector to implement this strategy.
On our side, we can’t wait to have the way to contribute to the climate changes fight also by travelling!
